The Spanish Government had also started the National Stabilization Plan which was also very restrictive for business. They argued that the big brands across the World had also just abandoned Italian and English races. In April of that year, a seemingly routine management board would forever change the history of motorcycling. At that meeting, Permanyer and Jose Luis Mila addressed Francisco and told him that as an economy measure they wanted and had to remove all sporting activities and competition teams and focus on improving business models. However a fter several years of steady growth and road racing success and Montesa already in larger facilities with greater staff and greater outgoings faced having to put a brake of production following a downturn in the Spanish economy. I've been looking for a '78 like the one I had in that pic and a 125 Pursang '72-up.think that's a hard find can't even get a bite.

Too bad the bike when running handled dawg gone good. Many that kept their Buls put 370 motors in 'em since they were reliable and had good power without the reed addition. Family dropped the Bultaco franchise the next year, so I never saw any '79s in Northern California. Even the shop owners son, an expert, gave up on his 250 Pursang and went to KX 250s(dad owned Kawi/Bultaco franchises). Remember calling the head of Bultaco East and he admitted all the top end kit and rebores were costing them a fortune since many motors were seizing before the warranty period was up. Those '78s had a bulletin on seizure problems, especially the 250s. And their 60 day top/bottom end warranty. I could never understand they had watercooled Metrallas and never tried to incorporate them in the Pursang line. Not sure it was '80, but Bimbo retired afterwards.

Pomeroy I think rode an '80 prototype 250 after his Honda ride the bike was not reliable at all. It seemed that bike was a 420 if I remember correctly.
